Each year, Liberty Global’s Lessons for Life charity organizes a fundraising bike ride to Amsterdam. This year, Axiros was excited to participate as a major sponsor of The Big Ride for Africa, supporting the charity’s mission to draw attention to sub-Saharan African countries need for education for their children and raise funds for the Lessons for Life Foundation.
Axiros has long partnered with Liberty Global, and they took a major role in the Big Ride this year. Their cyclists set off from four Liberty Global locations – Cologne, London, Mechelen in Belgium and Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Over several days, they journeyed to Amsterdam. Also this year, a team from Cologne’s UPC Cablecom took part for the first time.
As a special treat, 12 participants went the extra distance and cycled from Zurich to Cologne, receiving recognition for their dedication to the cause by Liberty Global.
The event received international recognition, and was supported at all levels. UPC CEO Eric Tveter was happy to participate to kick of the start of the event and wish the participants well as the Big Ride got underway.
Thanks to the efforts Lessons for Life Foundation and fundraising efforts such as these, more than 10,000 children in sub-Saharan African countries have received education where before it was not possible. The Foundation’s goal is to provide schooling to 50,000 children by 2017. We urge you to learn more and consider donating to support this group’s efforts.
