Visiting South Africa: Recap on AfricaCom 2023

Last week we had the first time opportunity to showcase our products at a booth at the AfricaCom exhibition in Cape Town. With nearly 15 years of business expertise in the African region and esteemed clients such as Vodacom, BTC and MTN, we looked forward with anticipation to uncover the possibilities of this fair.

Hosted by Bayern International and supported on-site by our local partner FirstDMT, we had the great opportunity to ingest not only the different African cultures, but also get in touch with many existing and potentially new customers. We sensed that business in Africa is very direct and personal and we certainly felt very welcome in this environment.

As usual we delved into potential use cases with our visitors, explained our product lineup. But of course we also featured our signature USP live demo, where we connected a number of devices to our local Wi-Fi hotspot and showed the ability to track and display various Wi-Fi quality parameters in real-time.

In addition to bringing our knowledge, we also spend copious amount of time listening in to the unique challenges across the many countries on the African continent. For us it was exciting to being able to delve deeper into the reasons why many of the problems in other parts of the world don't really translate to Africa.

The insight that fibre networks dominate the landscape, for a variety of reasons, was not really a surprise to us, but justifies and supports our decision to optimise our products accordingly for this market.

Similarly there is a lot less focus on managing individual devices or providing the best possible quality of experience, but on limited access to rural areas and keeping the whole network in its designated place, up and running - regardless of e.g. frequent power outages and dilapidated infrastructure.

It was a great experience and we would like to thank everyone who made that event happen and especially all of visitors and last, but certainly not least, the great people of Cape Town and South Africa for their hospitality, food and drinks... even though it seems that all pubs and bars close at 11pm. Axiros will be back and happy to serve your needs!
