Introducing AX USP 3.0: Axiros' Latest Advancement in TR-369/USP Technology
Scalable, and Secure Connectivity for Millions of Devices with the Universal USP (TR-369) Controller
December 12, 2024 - MUNICH, GERMANY - Telecommunications software leader Axiros today announced its launch of version 3.0 of the AX USP Controller (and associated tools). This major release marks a significant milestone with the completion of full support for the MQTT MTP, including the stabilization of clustered MQTT client and server modes.
The AX USP 3.0 release focuses on providing enhanced support for industry-standard protocols and beyond, ensuring scalability and reliability, it enhances the integrated MQTT server, introduced in the previous release, reinforcing Axiros’ commitment to delivering comprehensive and scalable solutions for the evolving demands of the industry.
Another key highlight of the AX USP 3.0 release are major improvements to the load tester, like the added MQTT MTP and support for the use of multiple source IPs from a single process to test the USP Controller setup with even more demanding production-like loads.
Some other notable changes from this release are:
Stabilization of all MQTT MTP modes which are now recommended for use in production systems
Added support for disabling CN/SANs validation in Elasticsearch logging using TLS
Bumped minimum glibc version to 2.31 as used by Debian bullseye
Different MQTT options are now mutually exclusive in a single configuration, avoiding confusing situations due to misconfiguration
Dependencies upgrades and general optimizations
“The completion of the MQTT MTP marks a big milestone, warranting the major 3 version. Unlike the competition we can not just use an MQTT Broker, losing some major USP advantages and performance, but also have our unique MQTT server built-in, allowing a use like WebSockets MTP but for limited devices which only support MQTT”, said Daniel Egger, Product Owner of AX USP and Program Stream Lead for Data modelling in the Broadband Forum.
Axiros AX USP supports millions of concurrent USP Agents connected via WebSocket or MQTT MTP in a single process. The Controller was developed from scratch in a memory-safe language for safety and speed. It supports all features specified in the latest TR-369 specification and most features currently defined in the specification process. AX USP interfaces seamlessly with all current and future Axiros products, thereby providing a seamless upgrade path for existing installations.
