Axiros Announces the Launch of AX USP Controller 3.3.0
Advanced Kafka Integration and Flexible Configuration in the Latest USP Release
September 23, 2025 - MUNICH, GERMANY - Telecommunications software leader Axiros today announced the release of version 3.3.0 of the AX USP Controller (and associated tools).
The highlight of this release is extended Kafka support within the rhai-handler. AX USP 3.3.0 now enables connections to multiple different Kafka clusters simultaneously, giving operators the flexibility to select – directly from Rhai scripts – which cluster will receive which notifications. Each cluster can be independently configured, ensuring full control and adaptability for complex deployments.
Another significant improvement is the revised CLI flag handling. All command-line flags can now also be specified via environment variables. This enhancement simplifies automation, containerization, and orchestration workflows.
Additional noteworthy improvements in AX USP 3.3.0 include:
Enhanced handling of USP Agents using the deprecated 'usp.error' content type in MQTT
General performance optimizations and upgraded dependencies
“This release puts even more power into the hands of operators, especially those managing complex Kafka-based backends. With the ability to connect to multiple clusters and programmatically decide where to forward notification data, we are giving customers unprecedented flexibility. On top of that, the improved CLI flag handling makes it easier than ever to integrate AX USP into commonly used orchestration frameworks,” said Thales Fragoso, Product Owner of AX USP at Axiros.
Axiros AX USP supports millions of concurrent USP Agents connected via WebSocket or MQTT MTP in a single process. The Controller was developed from scratch in a memory-safe language for safety and speed. It supports all features specified in the latest TR-369 specification and most features currently defined in the specification process. AX USP interfaces seamlessly with all current and future Axiros products, thereby providing a seamless upgrade path for existing installations.
