Axiros Announces the Launch of AX USP Controller 3.6.0

Easier troubleshooting in production, deeper observability, and more flexible notification delivery

October 23, 2026 - MUNICH, GERMANY - Telecommunications software leader Axiros today announced the release of version 3.6.0 of the AX USP Controller (and associated tools). AX USP Controller is a high-performance, memory-safe solution designed to manage millions of concurrent USP (User Services Platform) Agents via WebSocket or MQTT. Fully compliant with the latest Broadband Forum standards, it provides service providers and device manufacturers with the scalability, flexibility, and reliability required for modern large-scale device management.

With version 3.6.0, Axiros introduces key enhancements focused on troubleshooting in production, end-to-end observability, and flexible integration.

This release delivers several important improvements:

• Per-device log levels at runtime: Through the Controller’s Northbound Interface (NBI), operators can now set a more verbose log level filter at runtime for logs related to a specific USP EndpointID or source IP. This makes it possible to debug an individual device’s problems on production systems without the risk of overloading the logging infrastructure.

• OpenTelemetry tracing: The USP Controller can now export tracing data to a compatible OpenTelemetry Collector, such as Jaeger, giving operators detailed insight into request flows. The same support will be added to the other AX USP components in upcoming releases.

• Notifications via NATS NBI: In addition to the existing WebSocket notification interface, notifications can now also be delivered through the NATS NBI. NATS support remains in a preview phase and will be stabilized once initial support is available in other upstream Axiros products.

In addition to these highlights, the release includes a range of updates and optimizations:

• Support for compression when sending data to Kafka in the notification handler (rhai-handler)

• Support for the “NATS TLS First” feature

• Simplified NATS configuration: a single NATS subject prefix, with a default of “AX”, replaces support for multiple prefixes

• New absolute counters tls_ratelimited and subscriber_queue_depth

• General optimizations and dependency upgrades

“Being able to turn up logging for a single device, right on a production system, changes how fast operators can get to the root of a problem. Together with OpenTelemetry tracing, this release gives our customers much deeper visibility into their USP deployments without compromising stability.”, said Thales Fragoso, Product Owner of AX USP at Axiros.
